MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENTThere is no better place than NYSID to study interior design. As a single-major college, we devote all our resources to making it the best place in which to pursue an education in this exciting field. Our student body includes recent high school graduates, adults wishing to complete or enhance their education, and people ready to make a career change. We have found that the majority of our students come to the college because of a long, unfulfilled passion for the discipline of interior design. Our students are serious about their work, talented, and creative. There is a great sense of collegiality among the members of the NYSID community expressed in a sharing of ideas, mutual support, and respect. A sense of accomplishment is felt by all when we look at the roster of our celebrated alumni worldwide and the recognition our students have received with top awards in regional and international portfolio competitions. Quality is at the heart of everything we work toward at the college, whether it is the academic program, the faculty, or the physical plant. NYSID has a distinguished faculty, superb facilities in a great location, and a challenging and comprehensive curriculum. We offer more than 75 courses during the fall, spring, and summer sessions. Evening and weekend courses make it possible to earn a degree and work at the same time. The college offers a professional design education as well as all the courses in the liberal arts that are required to earn a degree at NYSID. NYSID has always attracted leading designers, architects, art historians, and experts in their field to its faculty. With an enrollment of over 700 students and a faculty of 75, NYSID enjoys the intimacy of a small college in the midst of one of the world’s most vibrant and dynamic design centers. The campus is located on a tree-lined street in Manhattan’s Upper East Side Historic District within walking distance of the city’s great museums, art galleries, and design resource centers.
