AAS PROGRAM

Undergraduate Program | BFA Program | AAS Program | Nondegree Program | Apply | Faculty

The AAS degree program fulfills the minimum of two years of college-level interior design education that is required along with the requisite work experience to be eligible to become a Certified Interior Designer in the State of New York.

The pre-professional AAS degree is comprised of 66 credits, which can be completed in four semesters of full-time study; however, students may pursue their program of study on a part-time and day or evening basis. Of the total credits, 49 are required in the professional sequence and 14 in the liberal arts plus 3 elective credits.

Required credits earned in AAS courses may be applied to the BFA upon acceptance into the BFA program. Of the 66 credits required for the AAS degree, a minimum of 33 credits must be taken at NYSID and not transferred from a previous college. Of the 33 credits, 30 must be in professional and design history courses. These required courses at NYSID include 234 Residential Design II and 286 Contract Design I. The last 16 credits prior to receiving an AAS degree must be taken at NYSID.
