Embark on an enriching two-week journey with Summer Springboard @ New York School of Interior Design (NYSID). This immersive experience is meticulously designed for students entering 9th-12th grade, offering a unique opportunity to explore the captivating world of design.

Scholarships are available for students to help cover tuition expenses.

Program Dates:

  • June 30-July 12, 2024 (Commuters start on July 1) — Pre-College I & II available

  • July 14-26, 2024 (Commuters start on July 15) — Pre-College I & II available

Capstone Projects: Elevate Your Portfolio

  • Pre-College I: Design a small apartment.

  • Pre-College II: Craft a hospitality space, like a hotel lobby or small cafe. (Pre-College I is a prerequisite for Pre-College II.)

Participating in Summer Pre-College I or II not only helps build your college portfolio but also earns you one NYSID undergraduate college credit for each program attended.

Online Pre-College@NYSID: Ignite Your Design Passion from Anywhere

Online for Students Entering 9th-12th Grade

Embark on an engaging design exploration with Online Pre-College@NYSID, a specialized program crafted for students entering the 9th-12th grades. This interactive online program provides a distinctive chance to delve into the fascinating realm of design, all from the convenience of your personal space.

Program Dates:

  • June 17-27 (Monday to Thursday) — Pre-College I (No class on June 19)

  • July 8-18 (Monday to Thursday) — Pre-College I

  • July 22-August 1 (Monday to Thursday) — Pre-College II **

New York School of Interior Design’s Summer Pre-College program offers high school students the opportunity to truly experience and understand life as a designer. It’s the perfect way to learn how your passion can become your profession.

As a Pre-College student, you’ll learn the basic how-to’s of interior design from the same professional designers who teach the College’s undergraduate and graduate classes in onsite in-person classes or online, real-time sessions from wherever you are. You’ll be able to take advantage of all that New York, the design capital of the world, has to offer with actual or virtual tours and live Q&A with design industry leaders.

 

Summer Pre-College In-person and Online Course Descriptions

040 Pre-College I

Learn the basics of interior design and complete a residential design project. In this course, you will acquire drafting skills, learn to understand floor plans, come up with a design concept, put together a color scheme, and select furniture and materials. An outstanding part of the experience is visiting design showrooms and the offices of New York professional interior designers. Once you’ve pulled together all your new knowledge, you’ll use it to design a New York City apartment.

041 Pre-College II

Take your basic knowledge of interior design to the next level. In this course, the assignment is to design a café and hotel lobby. Learn how to meet the demands of designing a public space and working with a client. Pre-College I is a pre-requisite for Pre-College II.
