FACULTYThroughout the years, many of the world’s top designers, art historians, architects, and authorities on the decorative arts have taught and lectured at the college. Because New York is a world-class design center, the college has access to the best design professionals and experts to serve as instructors and guest lecturers in their areas of specialization. NYSID faculty work as practicing designers in addition to being educators, authors, and active members of professional design organizations, and, as such, give NYSID students special insights into the practice of their chosen field. Among the many influential figures who have lectured at the college are Michael Graves, Hugh Hardy, James Stewart Polshek, Kevin Roche, Robert Siegel, Adam Tihany, Peter Shelton and Lee Mindel, Peter Pennoyer and Katie Ridder, Victoria Hagan, Thomas Jayne, Vincente Wolf, Samuel Botera, Mario Buatta, Eric Cohler, David Anthony Easton, Mariette Himes Gomez, Albert Hadley, Charlotte Moss, John Saladino, Michael Sorkin, Alexandra Stoddard, Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown, Marshall Watson, Bunny Williams, Lady Henrietta Spencer-Churchill, and Lady Caroline Wrey; Murray Douglas of Brunschwig & Fils; Talbot Love and Edward Goodman of Scalamandre, and color expert Kenneth Charbonneau, formerly of Benjamin Moore. |
