Faith Hoops  

Faith Hoops

Faith Hoops is in NYSID’s BFA program. In addtion to her coursework, Faith is the secretary of NYSID’s ASID Student Chapter and is a member of the D&D Student Council. In September 2015, her apartment was chosen to be featured in a NY Post story on how to get the most out of a 300-square-foot apartment and live beautifully on a student budget, and in a German TV program in a segment on unique apartment living in NYC. Read more about Faith.

 

Garrett Carter  

Garrett Carter

Garrett Carter is in his third year of NYSID’s BFA program. He hails from Houston, Texas, where he interned at Fixtures & FittingsPierce Designs & Associates, and worked at the design magazine Milieu. In between classes, he is a contributing editor for the popular lifestyle website, OliviaPalermo.com. Read more about Garrett.

Samantha Pendleton  

Samantha Pendleton

Samantha Pendleton graduated from NYSID’s BFA program in May 2016, earning high honors and winning the Chairman’s Award. Through a project she was working on for her Contract II course, she was hired by Kenneth Park Architects, where she has been a full-time, practicing interior designer since April 2015. Rose Darline Darbouze  

Rose Darline Darbouze

Rose Darline Darbouze grew up in Les Cayes, Haiti and then moved with her family to Fort Lauderdale, Florida when she was 16 years old. She received her associate’s degree from Broward College and then transferred to NYSID. She graduated from the BFA program in 2016 and is now working full time as an interior designer at Stonehill & Taylor, an architecture and design firm in Manhattan. Read more about Rose.

 

 

 

Mary Mills Thomas

Mary Mills Thomas grew up in Birmingham, Alabama and then moved to New York when she was 17 to become a professional ballet dancer with American Ballet Theatre (ABT). After a successful six year run, she decided that she wanted to follow her passion and pursue a career in interior design.  She enrolled in the Basic Interior Design (BID)program in fall 2011. After completing the BID, she continued her studies at NYSID in the Associate’s program and then started in the BFA program in fall 2013. She graduated from NYSID in May 2015. She currently works at Williams Blackstoch Architects. Read more about Mary.

 

 

Allison Kepler  

Allison Kepler

Allison Kepler is a designer at Drake/Anderson, a residential design firm headed up by interior designers Jamie Drake and Caleb Anderson. The firm caters to high-end luxury residential and commercial projects, and clients have included Madonna and former NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg. "I did an internship at the firm twice during my time in the BFA program. It was a great experience and I learned so much working on actual residential projects. It was a dream internship, and it gave me the connections to later return as a full-time designer at one the best interior design firms."

 

 

Shruti Narasimhan  

Shruti Narasimhan

Shruti was born in Madras, India and grew up in Washington D.C. Her mother is an interior designer and her father is a technology entrepreneur. After graduating from NYSID in 2016, she landed a job as a design assistant at Bunny Williams Home. Read more about Shruti.

 

   

Marcia Butler

Marcia Butler is an award-winning interior designer and founder of Marcia Butler Interior Design Inc. in New York City and a BFA graduate of the New York School of Interior Design. She is the recipient of a Design Excellence Award from the International Interior Design Association and has been featured in Design Bureau Magazine, on Apartment Therapy's The Kitchn, and in Gourmet Business magazine. Read more about Marcia.

 

Allison Davis   

Allison Russell Davis

Allison Russell Davis, BFA ’05, is a senior project manager at Cullman & Kravis. Immediately after graduating from NYSID, she went to work for the residential interior design firm. She has worked on residences throughout the country, including country homes in New Jersey and Westchester; apartments and a townhouse in New York City; and vacation homes in Sagaponack, Aspen, Santa Barbara, and Maui.  She serves as NYSID’s Alumni Council President.  Read more about Allison.

  

Brooke Lichtenstein and Yiannos Vrousgos  

Brooke Lichtenstein & Yiannos Vrousgos

Yiannos Vrousgos, BFA ’10, emigrated from Greece to New York to attend NYSID. There he met Brooke Lichtenstein, BFA ’10, who would become his friend and business partner. Soon after graduating, they founded Input Creative Studio, a firm that is charting new territory in the space between interior design and branding. Their recent projects include pop-up stores for the boating shoe retailer Swims, interactive 3-D branding for Lenovo, mobile espresso bars inside trucks for Freight, and the lighting distributor Megaman’s offices and showrooms.  Robert A. King  

Robert Arthur King

Robert Arthur King is a licensed architect and certified interior designer and the principal/owner of Robert Arthur King Architects, PC. He has taught a broad range of courses during his more than 20 years at NYSID, including Basic Drafting, Construction Documents and Historic Preservation. King is currently teaching Codes and Building Systems classes. Read more about Robert.

 

  

 

Joseph Goldstein

Joseph Goldstein, AIA, IDEC, NCARB is the principal and founder of JGArchitects, a firm that specializes in architectural interiors. He has designed office spaces for consulates and permanent missions to the United Nations and corporations such as AIG, Kawasaki, Goldman Sachs, Nippon Telephone & Telegraph, and Siemens. He has also designed projects for the Chelsea Arts District Gallery, Cuban Art Space, Cakeshop, Laugh Lounge, and a number of private residences. Goldstein has taught design studio courses at NYSID since 2004. He currently teaches Contract Design I & II to undergraduates. Read more about Joseph.

 

Barbara Weinrich  

Barbara Weinrich

Barbara is an architect and principal at Michael Neumann Architecture, which specializes in high-end retails and residential interiors. "NYSID attracts a diverse and engaging group of students who show creativit and energy in every design studio. They are committed to being good designers and are a pleasure to teach."

 

Lawrence Chabra  

Lawrence Chabra

Lawrence is currently the interiors studio director at Robert A.M. Stern Architects, a leading design firm with wide experience in residential, commercial, and institutional work. "After working as a graphic designer for many years, first in print and then in television, I realized that my true passion lay in interior design. The curriculum is designed to teach the technical requirements while also fostering your creative vision. This left me well positioned to start a new career when entering a highly competitive job market."
