Job Title: Director of Undergraduate Programs
The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, seeks an individual to serve as Director of Undergraduate Programs. The Director of Undergraduate Programs reports to the Vice President of Academic Affairs/Dean in the administration of the undergraduate academic programs, accreditation activities, supervising faculty, maintaining the integrity of the academic offerings, and building the reputation of the college.
Coordination and supervision of course content for designated degree programs, including online courses as noted, across sections; distribution and coordination of course materials; liaison with Library as required
Training and mentoring of faculty
Working with the Assistant Dean for Academic Administration in scheduling of courses and assignment of faculty:- Knowledge of the scheduling process, and responsibility for scheduling all classes in the designated degree programs, assigning faculty with the approval of the VPAA/Dean, and entering information into EMS and providing and verifying information for the semester bulletins.
Academic advising as assigned
Participation in and coordination of assessment activities under the direction of the VPAA/Dean
Attendance at and participation in OAA staff meetings; attendance at Registration and all other coordination meetings as required
Attendance at Thesis show openings and 4 other public program events per year
Attendance and presentation at professional conferences: minimum one per year; participation in networking on behalf of the college once per month
Curriculum review and development
Teaching 1-3 courses per academic year as directed by the VPAA/Dean
Participation in Academic Council, and Dean’s Council, and other meetings as requested by the VPAA/Dean
Participation in accreditation activities, for the institution and for the programs
Review of faculty performance based on evaluations by students and other performance criteria
Handle issues between faculty and students
Planning and implementation of Annual New Faculty orientations
Responsible for one faculty development program per year
Participation in improvement of the Faculty Self-Evaluation process
Attendance at all Faculty Meetings & program level advisory board meetings
Perform all other related duties as assigned
Master’s degree in interior design from a CIDA accredited program OR undergraduate degree in Interior Design or related field and additional related master’s degree, with extensive professional experience required. NCIDQ-certificate required; interior design license preferred. Must demonstrate excellent teaching practices and administrative ability. Higher education experience required. Minimum of two years of teaching experience, or five years of professional design experience or a combination of teaching and professional experience is required. Must be highly organized and possess good communication and customer service skills. Must know AutoCAD and Adobe Suite. Microsoft Excel and Word. Fluency in digital drawing and computer technologies a plus.
