Maintenance Associate

 Job Title:  Maintenance Associate

Position Overview:  The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, has an opening for a Maintenance Associate.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of the buildings; check and clean classrooms & bathrooms; empty trash in faculty lounge, computer system areas,  front desk and other common areas of the school

  • Sweep and mop lobby, connection hallway and staircases; vacuum elevator tracks on all landings and vacuum lobby runners/rugs; vacuum, dust and clean Library on a weekly basis

  • Sweep and hose outside of buildings and monitor cleanliness throughout the day; shovel snow when necessary and ensure all entry points are clean and safe

  • Clean all drains and gutters in buildings

  • Replace light bulbs throughout the building as necessary

  • Arm/disarm the school’s security system

  • Bring waste to designated storage areas for morning pick up adhering to recycling schedule as set by the City of New York

  • Report irregularities/out of the ordinary incidents to the Facilities Director

  • Assist in preparation & set up of auditorium & galleries for special events

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.  A pleasant demeanor, reliability and flexibility are key factors to success. Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.  Candidates may be required to work weekends and nights.
