At the New York School of Interior Design, we promise to provide our students with an exceptional education comprised of foundational skills, critical thinking and creative inspiration. For over 100 years, our students and alumni have proven that they are capable of great things when given opportunities and support.

At NYSID’s 2019 Gala, Charlotte Moss Scholarship winner Rachel Edelstein ’19 shared the two words that come to mind when she thinks of her NYSID experience: “Promises Fulfilled.” All along her journey from prospective student up through two-time scholarship recipient and now graduate of Class ’19, there were faculty, staff, mentors and, alumni urging her on with promises that her efforts would be rewarded, and the promise that her interior design talent would be realized. Rachel is thrilled to have now launched her career as an Architectural Designer at the Washington, DC office of Beyer Blinder Belle, where she works on large-scale public projects held to the highest standard of preservation, sustainability, and positive societal impact.

During her speech, Rachel spoke of her deep gratitude for Charlotte Moss’s commitment to support up-and-coming designers through her endowed NYSID scholarship. Receiving that scholarship made a critical difference for Rachel: it helped reduce her debt and enabled her to buy a laptop. While a laptop sounds to many like a simple, basic purchase, the impact of owning a powerful laptop meant that Rachel was free to work and study anytime, anywhere, which made a critical difference in her life.

So as we reach out to you today for support of our Scholarship Fund, please do keep that laptop in mind and know that we truly welcome support at all levels. Whether you are ready to support the school with an endowed scholarship like the Charlotte Moss Scholarship, or to make a smaller gift, your donation is vital to helping students fulfill their promise as designers.

In Rachel’s words, “As you think about ways to positively impact the interior design industry, our society, and those around us, please consider donating to the New York School of Interior Design. Your contribution is needed and appreciated, and the ripple effect will be tremendous. I promise you.”

Thank you for helping us to fulfill promises by supporting the NYSID Scholarship Fund. For information about making an endowed or named scholarship, please contact Joy Cooper, Director of Development, at
