Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family, with Pieter Estersohn

  • Arthur Satz Auditorium, New York School of Interior Design 170 East 70th Street New York, NY, 10021 United States (map)

As follow up to Pieter Estersohn’s exhibition, A Practiced Eye, Pieter will dive deep into his new book, Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family, published by Rizzoli. The renowned photographer presents thirty-five sublime country homes overlooking the majestic Hudson River, offering some of the finest examples of stately American architecture built between 1730 and 1946—all originally owned by members of the Livingston family and their descendants.

Pieter’s photography, one stunning interior and exterior view after another, provides a comprehensive private visit to the architectural legacy, picturesque gardens, and contemporary design of the present owners who include members of the Livingston family as well as celebrities who have navigated to the Hudson Valley. Most of these are photographed for the first time.

Copies of Life Along the Hudson: The Historic Country Estates of the Livingston Family will be available for purchase after the lecture. Reception to follow lecture, generously sponsored by Douglas C. Wright Architects.

This program is co-sponsored by the Institute of Classical Architecture & Art. It is free to ICAA members.
