Teaching Green Symposium

In the fight against climate change and the carbon emissions, waste, and pollution fueling it, interior designers can and must be powerful change-agents, making clients aware of the impact (positive & negative) their choices can have on human health, ecosystems and the climate, while exciting them with green options.

For many years, the discussion of green design, responsibility and opportunities did not include the world of interior design. NYSID’s Teaching Green Symposium was been designed to create a circular dialogue between students, instructors and practitioners to fill those gaps. It brought together top green thought leaders, renowned design practitioners, innovative educators and student leaders together for thought-provoking discussions and inspiring, entertaining presentations. All presentations are available now on our YouTube channel: NYSIDNYC Social or click below:

Climate change is an existential crisis, and it’s NYSID’s mission and responsibility is to make sure our interior design students are equipped to design with intention around the ways in which our industry impacts the planet. Our Teaching Green Symposium was designed to challenge, inspire and educate interior design professionals, faculty and students through discussions and presentations of innovative sustainable design across both commercial and residential design. I am thrilled with the design community’s positive response to the symposium. NYSID looks forward to continuing the conversations, seeing actions taken, and commitments made as a result of the information provided at TGS.
