Thank you for visiting NYSID's website. We are committed to providing the latest technologies and online services to both our visitors and members of the NYSID community. We are also committed to privacy issues, and we would like to take this opportunity to tell you about what information we collect, how we use this information and your rights concerning this information. This privacy policy applies only to www.nysid.edu, which is maintained by NYSID, and not to website maintained by other companies or organizations to which we link. NYSID is therefore not responsible for the content or activities provided on these other sites.

What information do we collect, and how do we use it?

NYSID only collects personal information on a voluntary basis. Our website may be visited without revealing any personal information about yourself. However, there are several pieces of "passive" information we collect from you each time you access our website. We log your computer's IP address, the URL that referred you to our site, if any, the pages you access at our sites, and the type and version of both your operating system and web browser. We also track any terms and phrases that you enter into our search engine service. None of this information is ever used to personally identify you or any other user, but rather it is collected and reviewed by select employees of NYSID only and used to generate reports for site usage. These reports help us to identify what parts of the site are most popular, what search engines visitors are using to find our websites, and what things visitors are having trouble finding. These reports help us determine overall website usage, identify problem areas, and ultimately provide better services for visitors like yourself.

Certain services provided by our website may utilize "cookies." A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your web browser from one of our websites and stored on your computer's hard disk. We will never disclose any information that we gather from you to vendors, sponsors, other third parties or other government agencies, unless required to do so by state or federal law.

The website also uses pixels provided by third-party vendors. A pixel is an analytics tool that allows NYSID to measure the effectiveness of our advertising by understanding the actions of visitors on the website and to market our services more effectively. Some of the information collected via these tracking technologies may be shared with third parties. By using this website, you consent to our use of these tracking technologies as described above and to the sharing of information with third parties. How do we keep your information secure?

Any information that you provide to NYSID through this website is safeguarded by a secure SLL server with 128-bit encryption. If you choose to opt-out from receiving any newsletters, wish to review, update or delete any personal information that we may have collected, you can do so by contacting us via e-mail at admissions@nysid.edu or by regular mail at NYSID Office of Admissions, 170 East 70th Street, New York, NY 10021 and we will gladly honor such requests.

NYSID's policy regarding third-party sites:

The NYSID website contains a variety of links to other websites not hosted by New York School of Interior Design. NYSID is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of any such website. Content and views presented by these sites may not reflect the views of NYSID. We therefore recommend that you read the privacy policies of any website that you link to before submitting any personal information. Also remember that any time you voluntarily disclose information in an unencrypted online forum, such as e-mail, web forms for chat rooms, that information can be collected and used by others. While NYSID is committed to protecting your privacy while you are on our site, it is ultimately your responsibility to protect your personal information while you are online.

Student Text Messaging (SMS) Communication Policy

The New York School of Interior Design (NYSID) may use Short Message Service (SMS) and/or Multimedia Messaging Service messaging (“Text Services”) to communicate non-emergency informational messages to prospective and current students. These messages may include but are not limited to event and appointment reminders, notifications regarding missing application materials, important application, registration, advising, and student account deadlines, and occasional one-to-one communications initiated by NYSID staff. Message frequency may vary.

By providing your mobile phone number on documents, including, but not limited to, on an inquiry card, application, or online form, you are opting to receive and are  authorizing NYSID to provide Texting Services. Further, by providing your telephone number, you consent to receive messages using an automatic telephone dialing system or device, or any other computer assisted technology (including artificial intelligence) as applicable.

You are not required to opt-in as a condition to receive offerings or services. You may withhold your consent, either in whole or in part. In connection therewith, your withholding will in no way affect your right to any services from NYSID and/or its third-party agent’s, goods, property, and/or services.

Message and data rates may apply. NYSID is not liable for the costs of such messages. If you have any questions about your messaging and/or data plan, it is best to contact your provider.

By opting into receiving Text Services, you understand that anyone with access to your messaging information may be able to view the messages you send and receiving when using the Text Services, and you agree that NYSID will not be liable to you if this occurs.

Applicants may opt out of receiving Text Services at any time by replying STOP to any message. Upon receipt of a STOP request, NYSID will send a final confirmation message indicating that you have been unsubscribed from Text Services. You may reactivate Text Services at any time by replying START. Instructions to reply HELP for assistance.

NYSID does not use Text Services for advertising or promotional purposes. All student information is managed in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). We may collect personal information directly from you (when you opt-in or engage with the Text Services), from other NYSID sources, and through automated processes. We collect personal information such as your name and mobile number when you opt-int to receive Text Services. We may also collect device information, carrier information, country related to the device, and message delivery status. We only use information provided via the Text Services to transmit your messages and respond to you, to comply with our regulatory requirements, and to provide services to you. Personal information, including mobile phone numbers, may be shared with trusted third parties to help deliver our Text Services, but we will not otherwise share or sell personal information to third parties without your consent, except as permitted or required by law.
