Alumni Exhibition Opening

On March 3, a reception for Interior Design Today: Alumni Exhibition was held to celebrate the opening of an exhibition of work from select alumni in honor of NYSID’s 100th anniversary. It was a festive evening, with many graduates, design professionals, and friends gathering to view the work of more than 30 alumni showing a wide range of projects for living, working, playing, and healing.  See photos from the opening!

Although the exhibition shows a small fraction of the work our alumni are producing every day, it celebrates the diversity and complexity of the profession. “We are very proud of the success of our alumni and the tremendous impact they have made in the field,” says NYSID president David Sprouls. “Showcasing their contributions in this exhibition is a great way to kick off the year-long celebration of our 100th anniversary.” The exhibition is on view in the NYSID Gallery, 161 East 69 Street, now through April 29.

In conjunction with the exhibition, on Wednesday, April 6, NYSID will host “The Evolution of Interior Design: Alumni Panel Discussion”  featuring NYSID alumni Mariette Himes Gomez, founder and principal at Gomez & Associates; George Marshall Peters, interior design at Pamela Banker Associates; Erika Reuter, senior interior designer, HOK; and Therese Virserius, founder and principal of Virserius Studio.  The discussion will be moderated by alumna Becky Button, principal at Gensler.
