Your Gift Will Impact Designers for Decades to Come

Endowments are powerful gifts that help ensure the long-term success and stability of the New York School of Interior Design. With an endowment fund, the income is distributed each year for the purpose designated by the donor, while the principle grows, generating larger and larger distributions over time. An endowment is a great option for someone who wants to honor a loved one or a master of design, leave a legacy gift, and/or impact interior design in a specific way for years to come.

Endowed/Named Scholarships

The minimum cost to establish an endowed scholarship is $60,000. This amount enables the donor to name the scholarship permanently. A donation to our Scholarship Fund will help our deserving students achieve their dreams of becoming interior design professionals.  Though not required, a scholarship and can be designated to an undergraduate or graduate student, a career-changer, a veteran, a male or female student, a student designing for social good, an international student, or a student who is culturally, racially, ethnically or traditionally underrepresented in the field of interior design. We work with you to emphasize your funding priorities and execute your vision.

Endowed/Named Faculty Positions & Deanships

Endowed Faculty Positions enable NYSID to attract the most qualified educators to the College, and to bestow on them the honor of a named professorship. We are working to endow the positions of Vice President for Academic Affairs/Dean, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean of Academic Technologies, Director/Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs, Director of the Master of Professional Studies in Sustainable Interior Environments, Director of the Master of Professional Studies in Lighting Design, and Director of the Master of Professional Studies in Healthcare Design.  It takes $350,000 to endow a MPS program director position, $500K to endow an Assistant or Associate Deanship and $750,000 to endow the VP Academic Affairs/Dean position. Every dollar counts toward building a fund to endow these positions. Endowed professorships will ensure NYSID can attract and retain thought-leaders in our field, perpetuating academic excellence and strengthening the reputation of the College.

Help Endow the Library Archives Fund

NYSID’s Library and Archives are unique in their focus on the interior design profession and their mission to document and preserve its history. Donations by designers of their personal archival materials are an invaluable addition to the holdings. Your contribution to the Library Archives Fund will help to process, store and make our collections accessible in perpetuity.  This support also benefits NYSID students, alumni and scholarly researchers, giving them new insights into both individual designers’ careers and the field as a whole. You can contribute to a named archival collection or the Fund in general. Our endowment goal for the Library Archives Fund is $250,000 and contributions of all sizes matter.

Opportunities to Endow Other Programs

If you are interested in endowing other NYSID programs such as PreCollege, Study Abroad, Dialogues on Design, Public Programs, or Exhibitions, Joy Cooper, Director of Development, will help you shape a giving strategy that reflects your values and educational priorities.

As a philanthropist, you use the resources you have to ignite someone else. What a blessing to be able to give something like that. In fact, it’s the greatest gift you can give to yourself.
— Kelly Williams, NYSID Trustee and founder of the Nate Berkus Scholarship
