Sean Corcorran, general manager of Steelcase Education Solutions, will discuss how space impacts behavior and how design thinking is transforming classrooms and learning spaces. In the United States the average “functional age” of a school building is more than 40 years. Meanwhile, students, pedagogies, and technology have all changed while our physical learning environments continue to look and work the same. This lecture will focus on how to best help schools, colleges, and universities design solutions for the many spaces where learning happens, from classrooms and libraries to in-between spaces and cafes.
