Art + Furniture: Designers, Makers, and Advocates Exhibition Opening

Join us for the opening reception of Art + Furniture: Designers, Makers, and Advocates on Thursday, September 24 at 6pm, at the NYSID Gallery, 170 East 70th Street.

Curated by Thomas Mellins and Donald Albrecht, the exhibition explores the origins, contributions, and legacies of the art and studio furniture movements in the closing decades of the 20th century. Furniture, related objects, and photographs of twenty artists will be showcased in the exhibition, including Donald Judd, Wendell Castle, Dakota Jackson, and Michele Oka Doner, as well as artists less well known to the public but critical to the movements. The exhibition will be accompanied by the forthcoming book Art + Furniture: An Oral History of the American Furniture Movement, published by Abbeville Press and created and edited by architect Dennis Miller. The exhibition is designed by Studio Joseph and produced by Poleschuk Design.
