On Wednesday, March 4, Lina Forrester, archivist of the renowned Kravet Archive, will present highlights from the company's collection, one of the most extensive repositories of its kind. An expert on the history of textiles and design, Forrester will provide a rare glimpse into the artistry and history of global textile design as she explores centuries of craftsmanship and cultural innovation.
Key pieces shown will include the iconic Tree of Life by Lee Jofa, a timeless Indian Palampore design crafted using 365 hand-carved wooden blocks, and vibrant Uzbek ikats featuring blurred, multicolored patterns. Visitors will also encounter Japanese katagami stencils, Kashmiri paisley shawls with the elegant boteh motif, and Josef Frank’s bold, colorful patterns for Svenskt Tenn. From intricate hand-block printing to the clean, functional aesthetics of Bauhaus textiles, this event celebrates textiles as living artifacts that connect past and present.
