Development and Data Associate

Position Overview:

The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, has an opening for a full-time Development and Data Associate. Reporting to the Manager of the Development Office, this position provides support with data management, fundraising operations, a 300-350 person annual Gala and several smaller events and prospect research. The Development and Data Associate is responsible for entering, maintaining, and managing all donor data, gift processing, generating donor reports, and supporting the department in fulfilling its annual fundraising goals. The Development and Database Associate ensures that all tasks are conducted in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Responsibilities:

Database Management

  • Manage the department’s Raisers Edge database

  • Serve as liaison with Raisers Edge representative

  • Create and maintain accurate donor records in Raisers Edge

  • Timely and accurate processing of donations and pledges

  • Update and manage daily donor information and gift entry

  • Generate a wide variety of reports in Raisers Edge to track gifts, pledges, and other reports as needed

  • Prepare timely, accurate, personalized acknowledgment letters, donor follow-up, and related correspondence

  • Develop new reports that assist development efforts in using data to inform its fundraising operations

  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual reconciliation with finance team

  • Perform regular data maintenance functions including removal of duplicate records

  • Continually seek improvement in systems and processes to ensure information is being captured accurately and efficiently

Annual Gala

  • Maintain/track event income in Raisers Edge, including ticket and table purchases and attendees

  • Maintain income spreadsheet

  • Use event module in Raisers Edge to generate seating plans, pledge reports, registration lists, place cards and other related tasks

  • Provide logistical and administrative support in and execution of annual gala

  • Track registration and solicit guest names from sponsoring firms and individuals

  • Create gala invoices and pledge reminders and send them to donors

  • Attend the Gala and provide assistance that evening as needed

Dialogues on Design/Other Events

  • Manage registration for Dialogues on Design using Eventbrite

  • Enter ticket purchasers into Raisers Edge and assign them the proper codes and attributes

  • Create the registration list for check-in

  • Handle check-in the day of the event

  • Assist with other events as needed

Research

  • Alumni: update contact information and identify job status

  • Research/identify companies in the industry who might provide support

  • Help research potential honorees

  • Other research as needed

Other

  • Make updates as needed to development and alumni pages on NYSID website

  • Handle special projects and assist the Development Office as needed

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree required. 2 – 5 years of work experience in nonprofit fundraising or related field. Experience working on Galas of 300-350 people preferred. Experience with CRM/database management for non-profits required. Experience with Raisers Edge preferred. Proficient in Word (including mail merges) and Excel. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Top-notch administrative skills and impeccable attention to detail. Ability to work evenings several times a year.

Salary: $42,000 - $45,000 + generous benefits
