Front Desk Attendant/Maintenance
Position Overview:
The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, has an opening for a Front Desk Attendant/Maintenance.
Job Responsibilities:
Perform daily maintenance of Graduate Center; check and clean classrooms and bathrooms; ensure all bathrooms are supplied with tissues and paper towels; bring waste to designated areas; oversee outside cleaning company and report any issues to the Facilities Director
Paint, plaster and perform minor repair work as needed
Move furniture in classrooms and/or to other learning spaces as directed by the Office of Academic Affairs
Monitor entrances of the Graduate Center for security and safety and report any suspicious activities; assist with fire drills and be the primary point of contact for emergency situations
Request presentation of ID from visitors/guests for access to the Graduate Center; announce all visitors/guests to appropriate department
Perform various tasks at the main desk such as answering/directing phone calls to the appropriate department; notify recipients of package arrivals
Enforce college policies
Assist students/faculty/staff with needs related to school business; assist with setups for special events; assist all departments as needed
Report irregularities/out of the ordinary incidents to the Facilities Director
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED required. A pleasant demeanor, reliability and flexibility are key factors to success. Minimum one (1) year previous experience required. Must be able to perform the physical tasks of the job.
Salary: $35,000/year + generous benefits
This is a full-time night position. Work schedule is based on academic year:
Fall and Spring Semester: Monday – Friday, 4:00pm – 12:00am
Summer Session: Monday – Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Intersession: Monday – Friday, 12:00pm – 8:00pm
