Remembering Scott Ageloff

The NYSID community remembers the life and legacy of Scott Ageloff, who passed away on June 2.
Ageloff was a distinguished architect, interior designer, and educator. He served as dean of the New York School of Interior Design from 1997 to 2011 and as senior vice president for Academic Affairs from 2007 to 2011.
Scott Ageloff received his Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon Institute and his Master of Architecture from Yale University. He founded Ageloff & Associates, which became Ageloff Design Group, where he became known for his thoughtful integration of architecture and interior design and his commitment to improving the lives of his clients through design.

"Scott played a pivotal role in the college’s growth during a period of significant program and facility expansion. As dean, he helped shape NYSID’s emergence as a leader in design education, strengthening the foundation on which it continues to build today. A generous mentor to students, faculty, and staff, he inspired many through his dedication to design education and the profession. His influence lives on through the many lives he touched,” says NYSID President David Sprouls.
“Scott's leadership in interior design legislation, program accreditation, and the profession deeply influenced NYSID's growth and its reputation for rigorous curricula and outstanding programs,” says NYSID Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean Ellen Fisher.
Ageloff's legacy endures through the countless students, educators, designers, and architects whose lives and careers he influenced. He will be missed by many.
