In celebration of our 100th anniversary, NYSID invited its students to help redesign the student lounges at the 70th Street location and the Graduate Center on Park Avenue South. The challenge encouraged students to create unique spaces that would embody and enhance the NYSID college experience for themselves and for future NYSID students

Recently, BFA students Faith Hoops, and Emily Kent, and MFA-1 students Tom Elka, and Larissa Moutrier traveled with NYSID's dean, Ellen Fisher, to Nantucket to survey the building and investigate on-island resources for their project.

Since then, the majority of NYSID’s institutional collections as well as a number of acquired archives from interior designers and firms have been organized and rehoused according to archival standards. In 2014, Nora Reilly was hired as NYSID’s first official staff archivist.

The student winner was Cheryl Sadlowski, BFA ’16, selected by a panel of judges including designers Drew McGukin, Alexa Hampton and Thom Filicia. Cheryl was announced the winner at a celebration at Holiday House on November 16.
