Academic Administrative Director
Position Overview:
The New York School of Interior Design, an accredited, independent institution of higher education devoted entirely to the discipline of interior design and its related professions, seeks an individual to serve as Academic Administrative Director. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs & Dean, the Director provides oversight of the administrative functions of the Office of Academic Affairs, and managing particular areas such as study travel, event planning, and administrative scheduling.
Job Responsibilities:
Supervise all study travel, including semester abroad and domestic and international study travel, supporting faculty and students
Manage the planning and execution of academic events such as symposia, thinktanks, workshops, and conferences
Create and maintain a master OAA schedule that coordinates with other departments
Serve on committees and work groups to assist in planning and implementation of academic goals and objectives
Interact with various internal and external groups on behalf of Academic Affairs in support of college initiatives
Maintain databases and records related to academic operations
Ensure compliance with educational standards and regulations, and manage the administrative side of accreditation, such as CIDA and NASAD
Collaborate on a wide range of academic/institution projects such as implementation of the OAA Strategic Plan, etc.
Collaborate with MCE in student work exhibitions throughout the college, including the Little Gallery, the third floor at 170 East 70th Street, and the Graduate Center.
Work across departments such as the Office of the Registrar and IT to coordinate systems
Initiate and support articulation agreements and MOU’s with other institutions
Support Pre-College administrative work
Faculty
Assist OAA leadership team with designing and implementing faculty on-boarding process
Assist OAA leadership team with the planning and implementation of faculty development activities; facilitate faculty meetings
Oversee the faculty review process, maintaining database and records, ensuring reviews are conducted on an annual basis; prepare analysis and make any recommendations based on faculty review data
Create and manage a faculty assignment system
All other duties as required
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration business administration, or related field required; master’s degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years of experience working in higher education. Ability to plan, develop and coordinate multiple projects. Ability to independently analyze, interpret and make recommendations in a wide variety of circumstances. Must be highly organized and possess good communication and customer service skills. Must know Microsoft Excel and Word.
Salary: $70,000 - $75,000 + generous benefits
