A group of NYSID students recently got the opportunity to design a one-of-a-kind picnic basket display for the Ronald McDonald Picnic Project, a designer-curated event benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island.

In celebration of NYSID’s 100th anniversary, on Friday, October 7, the College hosted “Interior Design: The Essential Profession;” a one-day symposium that explored the work of interior designers today and in the future and made the case that interior design is essential to human health, wellness, and happiness.

On September 29, the NYSID community gathered to celebrate the opening of NYSID’s fall exhibition, Designing Tomorrow’s Home.  See photos.

Over the past year, NYSID students have had a special opportunity to start work on redesigning parts of the 73rd Police Precinct in Brownsville, Brooklyn, through the People’s Precinct program. 

New York School of Interior Design continued its Centennial with The Educated Eye,  a luncheon at a private club in New York City Celebration on September 20, 2016.  See photos. More than 120 designers, leaders throughout the industry and design aficionados attended the event.

A group of NYSID students designed two rooms in the Jethro Coffin House, the oldest house on Nantucket, for Nantucket by Design, a festival of design organized by the Nantucket Historical Association that took place August 2-7, 2016. See photos here.

In celebration of our 100th anniversary, NYSID invited its students to help redesign the student lounges at the 70th Street location and the Graduate Center on Park Avenue South. The challenge encouraged students to create unique spaces that would embody and enhance the NYSID college experience for themselves and for future NYSID students

Two NYSID alumni received awards this past month for their recent outstanding work in the design field

NYSID Archivist Nora Reilly shares three of her latest finds from the NYSID Archives: a collection of alumni business cards from the 1940s and 50s, student work from the 90s, and a selection of old faculty lecture notes.

On May 16 and 17, receptions were held to celebrate the opening of the BFA Thesis Projects and the MFA Thesis and MPS Studio Projects exhibitions. The events kicked off an exciting week of commencement activities where graduates unveiled their final projects to family members, friends, and the NYSID community.
